Essential equipment for Watt motorcyclists
With a 100% electric motorcycle comes the responsibility of riding safely and this must always come before the fun.

Even if the rider is an ace on two wheels, or practices all the fundamentals of defensive driving, equipment is essential in our protection.

Their use is so essential that some of them are mandatory by law, but, traffic rules aside, the most important thing is that they ensure comfort during the daily journey and, above all, that they reduce the impact of weather conditions.

So let's discover the essential equipment to ride a Watt electric motorcycle?
Blog
1. Helmet | The driver's best friend.

This is "the accessory". No one should leave the stand without having it under their arm. Protects the back of the neck from falls and the face during travel, especially from wind, insects and noise. Preferably, it should be integral and have an adequate dimension to the head, so that it is properly accommodated, that is, tight, without causing too much resistance when taking it off.

It is recommended that it be changed, more or less, every 5 years and cleaned frequently, to eliminate grease, dust and other debris.

2. Gloves | A couple of extra security.

Gloves are the second most important accessory. In addition to protecting from the cold, they protect the skin in falls, and when they happen, the first thing that instinct leads us to do is put our hands on the ground.

We suggest that the chosen ones have a reinforcement in the palm area and that they are made of a type of material that does not prevent the hand from slipping on the road.

In terms of size, they must go beyond the jacket sleeve and cover the wrists, allowing fluid movements and total control of the motorcycle.

3. Coat | Travel dressed up.

It is not only used for style: it is also, like the ones mentioned above, a fundamental piece of equipment for the safety of those who walk on the road. It should include protection on the shoulders, back and elbows, have good ventilation, be waterproof, have internal linings and, preferably, pockets to store your cell phone, wallet or keys.

The sleeves must cover the arms when the driver sits down or stretches them. Another detail that makes a difference: having a certain type of reflective material or bright colors.

It is not recommended to wear scarves or scarves. Always opt for a tube collar or balaclava. Loose clothes should also be avoided as they can catch on the wheels or cause instability.
4. Pants | Key protection in the field.

Did you know that jeans take just 0.4 seconds to tear on tarmac? A good reason to opt for an alternative solution. There are special pieces for motorcyclists, in leather or fabric, with reinforced seams and protections on the knees, hips and shins.

Bermuda shorts, shorts (or any other garment that leaves the legs exposed and susceptible to injury) is to be left at home.

5. Boots | Necessary to stop risky situations.

No motorcyclist should ride an electric motorcycle in flip-flops or sandals. Boots protect your feet, heels and ankles in falls, but also allow you to better maneuver the vehicle.

They must have special protection in the areas indicated above, a non-slip sole and close above the shins.

6. Sunglasses | Pleasant driving to the eye.

First consideration about this accessory: with glass lenses… never. Plastic ones are also to be avoided. They must be made of polycarbonate and, if the helmet does not have a visor, cover as much of the face as possible.

Ideally, thick, padded hoops are recommended. The frames should also be made of polycarbonate, a lighter and less dangerous material than metal.

Goggles are a good choice for those who wear prescription glasses. Plus, they add a retro touch, which goes beautifully with our Watt Vintage.

7. Motorcycle Accessories | Practical and functional.

At Watt we have some additional parts available for Scooters, such as top-cases or saddlebags. They are ideal for carrying everything that doesn't fit in your coat pockets and, in the case of the former, storing your helmet.

We hope that this article will be useful for all those who are thinking of going full throttle in a 100% electric choice and investing in the necessary equipment so that the experience of driving around the city is always smart.
